We usually assemble for our monthly meetings at Chilworth Village Hall, Chilworth Road, Chilworth, Southampton, SO16 7JZ. This hall (sometimes known as “Chilworth Parish Hall” or just “Chilworth Hall”) is to the north of Southampton, lying just off the A27 Bassett to Romsey road next to the Chilworth Arms (formerly called the Clump Inn).

The postcode for the Hall is SO16 7JZ.

The Ordnance Survey Map Reference is SU410184.

The GPS latitude/longitude (WGS84): 50.96406° N, -1.41670° W.

Chilworth Village (or Parish) Hall is at the top right-hand of the figures "298" in the centre of the first map below, on the south side of the A27. A second, more detailed map highlights Chilworth Village (or Parish) Hall in red. Below the second map, detailed directions to the hall are given.

By car

The easiest place to give directions from is the Chilworth roundabout. This is situated at the southern end of the M3 and at the top of the Avenue (A33) which leads into Southampton. The Chilworth roundabout and interchange has a Shell petrol station on the west side and the Hilton Hotel on the east side.

Please note there is no direct access from the M27 although it passes within a few yards north of the roundabout. Probably the easiest way to approach Chilworth roundabout from the M27 is to turn north at junction 4 onto the M3. At the Eastleigh junction number 13, turn right under the motorway, and right again to rejoin the motorway going south. Following the signs for Southampton, you should soon reach the Chilworth roundabout. Drive almost right round the roundabout

Looking north from Chilworth
Roundabout

Looking north from the roundabout: straight ahead is the northbound M3. The A27 signposted Romsey bears left here - take the inside lane in front of the garage. Follow this road towards Romsey for approximately 1 mile until you see the Chilworth Arms public house (formerly called The Clump) on the left-hand side of the road.

Entrance to Chilworth
Hall

This picture shows the Chilworth Arms on the A27 Romsey road. In the foreground is the entrance to the Hall - signposted to both “Chilworth Village Hall” and, on the smaller blue sign, to just “Chilworth Hall”. The hall is the yellow brick building that can just be seen through the trees. The hall is situated down this driveway just before the car park to the pub. There is parking for about 40 cars behind the hall. You should not park in the car park for the public house.

If these instructions are not clear, please telephone one of the Society Contacts for further assistance. Again, if anyone needs a lift as they do not have transport or to find out where the hall is, please make contact with someone on the contacts page.

By public transport

Unfortunately, access to Chilworth by public transport in the evening is non-existent. Currently (Feb 2019), the last bus (service W1 operated by Wheelers) from Southampton City Centre arrives at the Chilworth Arms at 17.05 and returns to the City Centre at 17.47.
